I was was watching this on the Olympics the other day. I decided to research it alittle, and i found out that they do not touch the ground. I do not see how this is possible. They are in the water for a long time. They have to have some sort of assistance. I am in the military, and in boot camp we had to tread water for 5 or 10 min, and i was exhausted. I heard somehting about an eggbeater what is that.

  1. the eggbeater is what we call the American Redcross's rotary kick......... basically your legs go in circles like a beater......... i'm talkin from experince when i say polo players have rediculous practice and training schedules so its not hard to eggbeater for a long time once you get used to doing it......... when we were building up our leg strength we were ever allow to touch the wall or have our hands in the water, starting when we were frosh all the way to being a Sr. (and that's just high school polo)

  2. Yeah we can't touch the bottom of the pool when we play water polo, thats why it is one of the toughest sports out there.  Its tough to get your body to do that but after some training you can do it.  Egg beater is the kind of kick that you do to keep yourself afloat.  Here is a video explaining how to eggbeater http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVCGUTRFc...

  3. The only assistance water polo players have is the natural buoyancy in their bodies.

I can easily tread water for three hours straight, no problem.

But if you think about it, water polo isn't ALL treading water.  There's a ton of swimming involved as well.

    Eggbeatering how to:

Move your left leg in a small circle, so your knee isn't right under your hip.  Do the same with your right leg, so each leg is creating a small circle.

  4. It's all a question of strength and endurance. Now imagine being overboard in the ocean, or a survivor from an air crash in the ocean. That's why we made you do it for at least ten minutes. Only the strong survive.

  5. all muscle big boy

being in the military doesnt make u a strong swimmer

it doesnt even make u strong

they have strong developed muscles for swimming

im out of shape and i can tread for at least 10 minutes
