Water polo suits?

i'm a guy, wanting to start up water polo, it looks like a hard sport but at the same time fun sport, i was wanting to know if wearing a speedo is best or something else. I would prefer not to cause i heard it makes people look g*y (I'm straight), but if it it would help my preformance, i just will wear 'em.

speedo's are the most common type of suit used in the sport. This is mainly because it has less resistance but more importantly. if a defender is guarding you here is less clothing for him/her to use to hold you back. Since most of the action (fouls, grabbing, etc) happens underwater you want to make sure that they can't pull your suit and slow you down or impede your performance.

I am straight and have been playing for several years (over 15) and while I understand your concern I think you have little to worry about.

yea, we had purple and white (school colored) checkers, and i felt fine wearing it.  wear multiple ones though.  otherwise, they might get torn.  i wore two or three, and once had the outside one ripped completely off.  it can be a pretty cheep dirty game... but fun as h**l.  and theres nothing g*y about it if u get laid (by a woman).

our high schools boys jv and varstiy both wear bright green and black checkred spedos and most of the girls think its hot. but u pick

Simply put, if you don't wear a speedo, you won't be competitive.  

A regular bathing suit causes too much water resistance.  Water resistance=slower swimming speed and more fatigue.  Plus it's just more material for your opponent to grab onto.

If you're comfortable with your sexuality, don't worry about what other people think.  Guys who play other sports are just jealous because all the girls are coming to watch YOU!  Have fun, it's a great game.
