for some reason our water pressure sucks so we called the water company and they thought they might have galvanized going to our copper so they came and dug but they have lots of water pressure at the main shutoff so it must be our piping it is about 30years old. we called a plumber and he gave us a estimate for 1,500 to re do the water pipe. do you think this is going to help or is it going to be the pipes in the house they are all copper also our vacation house has awesome pressure you can take a shower wash clothes and wash the car at the same time i realy hope that we can have that kind of pressure

  1. Do you have low water pressure or low water flow?Put a guage on a tap and check pressure,if its low find the pressure regulator valve on the incomming cold water line.Turn the adjusting s***w cw to increase pressure, also there may be a screen on the reg that may need to be cleaned. If you have good static pressure but poor flow then you have restiction in the pipe.If the supply from the street is leaking you should feel the ground soggy, and you would have low static pressure.

  2. Copper pipe usually doesn't get buildup like galvanized used to, so I would hesitate to suspect the copper pipe. If they have galvanized from the main shutoff to your house, that could certainly be the problem. Ask the water company to recommend someone in your area to replace that pipe. They can mount a horizontal jack in your basement, jack some galvanized pipe through the original trench that your pipe was laid in, connect a new piece of copper supply line to it, reverse the jack, and pull the new line through that trench again. I had a guy do mine for less than $500, but that was several years ago. It could be as much as twice as expensive to do that now. More if you have a really long run to your house. Good luck!
