Question:

Water pressure too strong in remodeled bathroom?

We recently remodeled our bathroom (completly gutted it and replaced everything) it turned out great, but the water pressure for the sink and in the shower is really strong. We had a professional plumber do all the plumbing, but we can't even turn our faucets on all the way or the water splashes out of the sink and the showers are uncomfortable, not to mention the water we're probably wasting in the shower. I've thought about a shower flow restrictor for the shower, but didn't know if there was some other way we could get the overall pressure turned down, we don't have this problem anywhere else in our house. The sink is a pedestal sink and its a clawfoot tub with shower surround if that makes a difference? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It might be the pressure of the water when it comes through the pipes. We had that problem and the plumber put a device on the main water pipe and now we can regulate the water pressure with this device.

  2. Get a pressure regulator and install it at the service side of your meter or where your service                                        enters your house. You can adjust the pressure to the correct amount.

  3. You can replace your shower head with a restricted flow head. It should just s***w off. Take it with you to find a replacement so you get the right thread and pipe size. Turn the water off at the "shut off" first or you will have water all over the bathroom. :-)

If you have a shut off valve strictly for the bathroom, you might be able to just close it down a little to restrict the pressure.
