Water resistant or waterproof?

I just got a watch that counts how many calories you burn, it comes with the band to put it on your chest...I want to use it on the pool and it says it is water resistant 50m... is it water proof different than water resistant, can I use it on the pool or is it just for some water splash

i don't care what anyone says I've had like 10 water "resistant" watches and i wake board, water ski, swim, and white water paddle with them all. not one has ever leaked. if i were you i wouldn't be worried about going in a pool. like i said i do white water paddling with mine, it gets smashed of of rocks and other boats and they never leak water.

Also....check whether or not its waterproof in salt water or just fresh water.

Water resistant is by no means waterproof. It means that there is a decent chance that taking it in the water will not ruin it, but not a guarantee. Waterproof means water will not hurt it period.

Call the manufacturer...and ask them.  Or, email them.  You don't want to  void your warranty b/c you "mis-used" the product.
