Question:

Water saving measures.i work in a major factory and we use a god awful amount of water.?

we have 3 lakes and recycle as much as is fesable but we still use way too much. a lot of our machines use a continuious stream of water to run them and with out it the machines will not run properly. can anyone give me any great ideas onhow this factory can save water with out compromising production..?????

  1. As long as they have a steady supply of cheap water they won't change.   I was in Maryland years ago while they were having their drought and companies came up with amazing ways to save on water.

Install water efficent fixtures - toilets, sinks, showers which will save water.  Also if you have the space set up rain water reclamation tanks to use in your manufacturing process.  You could also use the water run off from your roof that leaves in gutters and drains and send them directly to the tanks.  This water "grey water" can be used in the flushing of the toilets.

    Your company can also set up a small water treatment facility that recycles and cleans the water on site to save on potable water.  The upfront cost would be expensive, but over time you will save on potable water and sewer costs.  If you keep the same water on site and recycle it you will reduce your potable water demand.
