Question:

Water skis?

By accident today, I ran over my brother's water skis. How much do they cost? If you were my brother who is well off financially, how would you feel if your sister (who is struggling financially) if she ran over your water skis, that you left out carelessly? I am willing to be liable for them but I honestly don't have the money to repay him. What do you think?

  1. Will your auto insurance cover them? Might check to find out. If not then I would say it's more his fault than yours. Explain to him your situaton and ask if there is a way to cover the loss at a later date. You can't pay what you don't have. Since he is a relative I would say he would be willing to work with you on it or write it off to bad luck. The best thing to do is be honest with him and let the chips fall where they may. Good luck girl.

  2. One way or another, you need to pay for these. They were not moving. You were.

  3. He is your brother not a stranger tell him what happened and your sorry.  play the situation out and offer to help pay if that makes him feel better.  It not your fault.  Also new skiis run from 400 to 1800 dollars depending on what type of ski.

  4. if they were a combo pair of skis, they don't cost much. you could try telling him what happened, get a bart's or overton's catalog or online -sit with him and ask which ski would be a fair replacement. He may see your willingness to right the wrong and let you off the hook.....maybe?

  5. If he didn't put them away properly or "in their place", anyone could have run over them!  Just so happened to be you unfortunately!  I don't have a clue what they cost, but I don't think they were cheap.  IF he can afford to replace them, left them where they shouldn't have been, I think he rightfully should be responsible for them.  I would just tell him that you weren't expecting them to be where they were, & some how they got under your car by mistake!!  IF he has a sence of humor & admits he was in the wrong in the first place, it shouldn't be that much of an issue.  Of course you'd also say you were sorry, but sorrier that you don't have the money to replace them.  Good luck!
