Is water, like in ponds, colder or warmer or the same as the temperature around it?

  1. It can be either one, because water warms and cools slower than air.  In a simplified situation, the water will typically be cooler than the air during the daytime, while at night the water will be warmer.  This scenario ignores other factors, though, and thus is not always the case.
