Water will not go into dishwasher

Question

It's a kitchenaid and I just replaced the water inlet valve. It appears and sounds like it's going through all the motions but when you interupt by opening the door, the usual water splashing sounds are not there. The wash arms are not moving. Apparently some water gets in because it's damp and some pumps out. Any advice as to what next, I would appreciate...Steve
