  1. I have had the same problem for the last few months and my optician said it was dry eyes, even though that sounds silly.  I wear daily soft contact lenses so have given my eyes a rest for a bit without them, but it has made no difference.  It is very annoying because it is just when you are trying to go to sleep that they start watering.  None of the drops prescribed made any difference.

  2. I use Hypromellose.  Very good.  The same but cheaper than optician eye drops.  See site below and look at Tip No. 2.

  3. I get that too, my eyes are also very itchy. I use Opticrom eye drops, they're brilliant.

  4. Try using Optrex or blink eye drops.

  5. I know it sounds backwards but you could have dry eyes which makes your eyes water, you can buy some good eye washes for that.  But i've had awful watery eyes this month especially in the evening and I think that's due to hayfever-watering and itching as I type! good luck.

  6. If you're tired and your eyes are gritty then theres often reflex tearing to try and rewet your eyes.

    - Also, when your lying down on your side, the tears cant drain through your tear ducts and so can only overflow and run down your cheek.

Its very common and nothing to worry about - but if its becoming a chronic thing then you should consider using artificial tears from your pharmacist.

You could also try for a more long term solution by taking cod liver oil tablets and drinking plenty of water.  ( Omega 3 &6 are key to maintaining a good tear film) getting plenty of rest and not staring at the computer screen for so long at any one time.

If your straining your eyes when reading (and you're doing this in bed) this would also easily explain your watering eyes.

    Hope this helps.
