Waterloo Blackhawks’ defenseman Ian McCoshen included in U.S Junior Select for 2012 World Challenge
Ian McCoshen, an upcoming hockey player from America and a junior who has represented his country on international level, has been named in the team U.S Junior Select, which will take part in the world junior A challenge hockey tournament for 2012.
The tournament, which is to be played in the November, will be played in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and international junior hockey teams participating in it. They include European teams from Russia, Sweden and Czech Republic and one team from USA. Canada is
the only team which plays its two teams, by the names of West and East Canada.
Going into the seventh edition of the tournament, which was first played in 2006, USA and West Canada have been the most successful teams of the competitions as they are the only teams which have been able to win the trophy.
Both of them have won the trophy three times, as West Canada won the inaugural edition and followed it up with a win in second edition. USA won the third edition after beating West Canada in the finals and after that there was no stopping for them as they
went on to beat the hosts once again in the final of 2009 championship.
Team USA completed the hat-trick of titles in 2010 when they defeated West Canada for the third consecutive year in the finals. But West Canada got their title back when their countrymen, East Canada made a huge upset by taking out USA in the semi finals
and cleared the way for the team which reached the finals of all 6 editions. West Canada easily got the title back by beating countrymen 4-2 in the finals.
USA would be looking to get their title back this year as they have named a very strong line up for the tournament, which includes 22 players. There are 13 forwards, two goalies and seven defenseman in their team, few of them are being contenders of getting
selected in the NHL Draft for the year 2013.
The Waterloo Blackhawks defenseman would be key for Team US if they have to get back their title.
