Waterloo Blackhawks of USHL and Sudbury Wolves of OHL to face each other for Junior Club World Cup
Waterloo Blackhawks, an American professional team that plays in the United States Hockey League (USHL) and Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), will play each other in the finals of the Junior Club Ice Hockey World Cup.
In the semi-finals of the championships, which is being played in Omsk, Russia, Blackhawks were able to qualify for the finals by beating Finland’s Linkoping, whereas Sudbury were able to beat Dynamo Shinnik of the Belarus.
In the matches which were played on Saturday, Waterloo took an early lead and was looking clear favourites to win the match as they were leading 3-0, going into the third period. But Linkoping made a miraculous comeback and scored goals to make their way
back into the match.
The situation got very tough for them at the end and it became a nail-bitting affair coming to an end, but Waterloo managed to go through at the end.
Vince Hinostroze, the goal scorer and rescuer for Blackhawks was happy but he wanted to win it easily, not the way it ended. He admits that it became a nail bitter and it was nerve reckling but happy because of the fact that they were strong enough to take
pressure and go through as he said,
"It was kind of nail-biting there at the end. I kind of would have liked it more if we'd won without giving up those four goals. Got kind of nervous there. But it was a great finish, the team came out and battled, so it was a great win for us."
Sudbury, however were easy winners against Belarusian side as they won it 5-2. They took an easy lead 3-1 in the first period and their opponents never them a scare at any point of the game.
Trent Cull, Sudbury’s coach was very happy with the team’s performance as he said,
"The boys really competed hard in this one. I thought we really held our ground when they turned it on. They have an older team with lots of skilled forwards and I thought our team responded well and played a good smart team game."
