  1. For cameras that are waterproof from the start, SeaLife makes some of the best. However, they can be quite pricey. you best bet would be to buy a generic canon/olympus/kodak/nikon compact camera and then buy an underwater case for it (before you buy the camera, do a google search for the case to ensure they make one and that it fits your budget). Most people that dont expect to go completely underwater with their camera for extended periods or take it farther down than say 5-10ft can get away with one of those vinyl bags that seals around the camera (like this one (http://www.keepitdrycase.com/larwatcamca... but if you will be underwater for long periods or to bigger depths, you need to get a hard plastic/polycarbonate case for your camera(like this one (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/... These can get even pricier than the SeaLife option. Most will run you $100-200 and can get higher from there. The case for my Olympus evolt 510 was about $900, but it's expensive because my camera is an SLR, so its a bigger camera with alot more buttons. A case for a compact digicam shouldn't run near that amount.

  2. yes

  3. I got a waterproof Sanyo Xacti video/still digital camera last year and quite like it for fun stuff like that.

I got it for video mainly, but was surprised how good the 6MP stills look.

It's waterproof down to a depth of 5 feet for an hour at a time so it would be no good for most scuba diving, but perfect to hang around your neck while swimming or rafting and get lots and lots of fun shots.
