Waterslides - how to overcome fear?

Help please? Am going on sun holiday next week and my husband really wants me to go on a waterslide with him. He is an expert swimmer and I recently learned to swim after 30 years of being petrified of water. I am not a strong swimmer at all. I don't think I would mind going down the slide - its the actual sliding into the pool at high speed that terrifies me. I know these pools are only hip high but i freeze when i look at them. Please can somebody help me, i really want to do overcome this fear. All tips appreciated

  1. just  go on a small one then work your way up the "big guns"

  2. Just go on it like you said the pools are shallow. They also have ones with the tubs I would try that first so you have a tub to help with the fear. They are a lot of fun so try not to "sike" yourself out and do it!

  3. I still don't know how to swim, but I LOVE waterslides. However, I did have a bad experience once. I was at a waterpark with a friend. We were getting ready to go down one of those slides that looked like a big winding tube. They had the inner tube things to ride down on. While I was positioning myself on the tube, my friend gave the tube a shove. It went out from under me and went down without me. As I was sliding down without a tube, I could hear my friend coming down behind me. Of course, he caught up with me because I had no tube. He and his tube pushed me the rest of the way down the slide. I landed on my butt, and because I'm so short, I was completely underwater. I started to panic. I didn't realize that all I had to do was either stand up or just get on my knees. My friend helped me stand up and the attendant was there, too, so I know that someone was there to help--just in case .Anyway, after the initial embarrassment, I "shook it off" and went straight back to another waterslide.

I don't want to scare you off by telling you this. In fact, I'd advise you to go and enjoy yourself. Hey, at least you already know how to swim, and you'll have your husband there. Waterslides are fun.
