  1. As far as I know, water spouts are far less severe than tornadoes, and are more akin to little twisters.  If they were real storms, then they would be called hurricanes, and not 'water spouts'.


  2. A waterspout is simply a tornado over water. If it goes over land, it's a tornado again.

    I don't know which one you have a better chance of surviving, but since more people live on land, I'd imagine that tornadoes have higher fatality rates.

  3. Usually tornados are stronger than waterspouts.So,they have a better chance of surviving.

    A weak tornado over a water surface is only called a waterspout.They occasionally cross the land and become tornados.
