Will Earth ever get to the point of Waterworld (except for the people) ? And how long do you think it will be before rising water becomes a major issue in the world?

  1. It is highly doubtful.  It is estimated that because of global warming the sea level will rise about 300 feet, there are many places on Earth that are over 300 feet.  In New Brunswick NJ I am currently standing 526.2 feet above sea level.

  2. No.   Not enough water on earth to do that.  Same problem with the myth about Noah's flood.

Where I live would be back under a bay of the ocean if all the ice melted.  It was under water about 6000-10000 years ago, and this has made some wonderful farmland in the area.  Good thick deposits of silt and mud on broad flatlands. (the weight of the glaciers pushed the land down about 250 feet, but it has since bounced back up, draining that ocean far far to the east).

A lot of coastal plains are good places to live. Good land, modest relief.  This is because most coastal areas were under water a few million years ago (before the big ice came).  The worst that can happen is that these places will once again be under water.
