  1. I've got a beginner's cake decorating set, made by Ateco and it has a vinyl washable bag and 6 tips. (Writing tip, rose, leaf, shell, scroll and star) I've had it 10 years, used it dozens of times and it was worth the $15 I paid when I bought it at a cake/confectioner's store.

The biggest danger with cake tips is their falling into the garbage disoposal because they're so small and slippery.

  2. This is a good starter set-

Wilton is a great brand for cake decorating-  great for beginners and easy to use and also used by the professionals-  quality products-  If it is for a gift, I would get this and (2)  8" round cake pans.

This is inexpensive enough that if there is no interest, money is not wasted, if there is interest this is a good quality set to build on and a good investment towards helpingto develop the skill/ hobby.

you can also get these neat press sets with designs and letters to make writing on the cake a 'piece of cake'

I don't know how old a child you are looking for but if we are talking about 10 or older , I would definitely include one or more of these sets:

  3. Oh.You mean for them to like...start playing with? Well, you can but them the toy sets but other wise, you can set    them to a normal stove(As long as you ask them to the mixing and you praise them) But DO not let them use the stove

  4. they have little toy kitchens.they are GREAT for kids.  For cake decorating, the little bake oven is good, they are for girls though

then she would fill a zip lock bag with icing and cut the end out of it and i would trace the tooth pick lines.. i felt like i was a pro lol
