Wats best gear to be in to get best gas mileage?

I have a 230cc 5 gear bike and im wondering if anyone knows for a FACT if u get better gas mileage goin 40-45mph in top gear (5th) or like 4th gear???

  1. You want to but it in what ever gear that your bike rides with ease and not reving to high. But a good rule is but it in the highest gear you can without lugging/bucking our bike. With a 230cc your going to get great gas mileage regaurdless. www.blacklistedcustoms.com


  2. your going to get the best gas milage in your highest gear, in this case your 5th, but if your motor sounds like it is struggling or if you increase the throttle and it does not pick up speed very fast or does not sound right, that speed might be too low for that gear forcing you to use your 4th gear

  3. I dont have one of those so i cant say for a fact but it seems logical to me that as long as it isnt lugging the engine it would in fact be better to be in the highest gear that could handle that speed.

  4. Generally the best thing to do is to get into a gear with you using low revs for the speed your going. Low revs, high gear. Basically what the rest have said.
