  1. LCD is the media of choice because Plasma is more sensitive to shock by mishandling and uses up to 3 times more power. Go LCD. I'm a Radio Shack Associate, Have 40 years in Radio and TV and have owned and operated my own recording studio since 1966. You know what I prefer.

  2. LCD's use less power, emit less heat....but plasma's have deeper colors, blacker blacks and whiter whites.

I've seen both LCD and Plasma's....I decided to get a plasma.

You only need to worry about screen burn on plasma's if you're dumb enough to leave your game or movie on pause for an hour.

Screen life is not an issue as my plasma has 60,000 and the high end Panasonic plasma displays can go up to 100,000 hours of use.

  3. An LCD TV uses Liquid Crystal Display in which to project it's images, it's a common projection method that is also used in computer screens. The color reproduction on LCD display TV's  are typically very bright and accurately reproduced. Plasma TV's use millions of tiny gas filled cells to project the picture. Basically, ionization of the gas causes the picture to be created. Plasma TV's are bright and often the highest end plasma TV's make the picture almost look like real life images. A major negative about plasma TV's is picture burn. If a channel has a permanent logo in one of it's corners or if a channel is left on for a long period of time, there is a chance of a 'ghost' image burning into the screen that will appear in the background of all channels. Also they have a short lifespan. The two biggest negatives about an LCD is that they  sometimes produce blacks that appear more like dark browns or 'off blacks' and they have limited viewing on angles (meaning the screen will look dark). But, if I were to buy a new TV tomorrow between either an LCD or a plasma, I would go LCD. I think you will be more pleased with an LCD over time. I hope this information is useful!
