  1. James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the structure of DNA.

Wilkins and Franklin only took the photos.

  2. As I understand it,  poor R.F. did take first photo,  and it was seen by Watson and Crick. R.F however didn't EXPLAIN how the structure was composed - watson and crick did that with their model,   but they found it easier once they had seen the photo.

  3. watson&crick

  4. Is the Franklin you mention a woman? If so, I think I remember reading something about a controversy, there were more than just Watson and Crick involved, but they got the credit. Better do more research.

  5. Rosalinda Franklin and her team were first to take an X-ray photo of DNA where one could see double-helical structure. So, Rosalinda Franklin was first to discover secondary structure of DNA.

During experiments, Watson and Crick have sneaked in her lab and saw that picture. Soon, R.F. died from progressive cancer and Watson&Crick told the public that they have discovered secondary structure of DNA. She couldn't defend her discovery, she past away.   :(
