Question:

Watson in the top order?

Shane Watson is expected to return to the top order of Australian batting after his 95 off 85 in the Carribean yesterday.Australia's 211 run victory V UWI Chancellor's XI was greatly helped by Watson's total which he put down to his new rigid training routine. Do you think this will prevent further niggling injuries etc & that he will make good?

  1. Yes well i am willing to sit back and see how Watson goes..I did not watch him in the IPL,but we all know how well he did in that.I am just hoping he brings his IPL form into the Aussie One Day Squad..

Well he got through the IPL with put any injuries so obviously what ever new fitness routine he has come up with is working.

  2. yes..he certainly did that...

  3. good news.

  4. well personally, i find it a really hard one to judge, people say his physically fit, well from what i've seen, hes always looked like hes in good condition, yet for some reason he would always get injured, was it possible that he was getting injured cos he was over-doing on his fitness regime?

i think its a tough call either way, as i believe it will be either Watson or James Hopes to open with swampys boy, but in the last few ODIs hes played Hopes has started to look more comfortable as an opener and i still think he deserves his chance in that spot, either way its a tough call

one thing is for sure tho, Watson must be on his final opportunity, if he gets injured again or his form drops, it probably should be the end of this experiment with him

  5. I heard that part of the routine was to trim a little of the muscle bulk off.  That might help with the injuries but in truth there is going to be a black cloud of doubt around SW for quite a while ... maybe for his whole career :-(

  6. He is a really good player but who's knows about the injuries but if he has a long run in the team he will make good

  7. remains to be seen how he handles da big time again

  8. I hope it does do him some good- the poor fellas always just gets to the top of his game and then gets struck by an injury of some sort. He was really fit in India , lets hope he can stay that way for Australia

  9. Watson is a very good all-rounder and has potential to become a regular member in Australian team in future..

  10. Yep I've heard it too,..

A streamlined Watson will open the Australian innings in the five-match series against the West Indies, ...He could  be a good pinch hitter  to fulfill the place of hard hitting Gilly,. but injury prone Watson will be faced to his fate  ~

to overcome nagging injuries he has to be careful and it may hinder his performance for certain extent..

    cheers~
