Watson to up the training intensity – Cricket News Update
Geared up to regain his place in the Test team, Australia’s premier all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 has revealed that he is going to train harder in the next couple of days to make sure that he does not break down during the second Test of the series against South
Africa, which begins from Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.
The 31-year-old cricketer missed out in the first Test of the all-important battle, which will decide the number one ranked team of the world, due to a calf injury. Watson is considered to be one of the finest all-rounders of the modern-day sport, having
the ability to change the course of a game with both bat and ball.
Apart from his destructive batting skills at the top of the order, the Queenslander’s medium-fast bowling was badly missed in the Brisbane Test, with the home team finding it hard to dismantle the Proteas, who possess one of the strongest batting line-ups
in world-cricket at the moment.
The all-rounder started light training last week and has been included in the 13-man squad for the second Test, although he will not be able to bowl in the fixture, if selected.
Watson understands that he cannot afford to get injured once again during the second match, which can hurt Australia’s chances of winning the series. The all-rounder is now going to work harder in the practice sessions to make sure that he is at the top
of his game.
“I'm definitely going to have to up the intensity over the next couple of days, no doubt,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 said.” I know how important this Test is. I need to make sure I'm as good to 100% as I can be to give myself the best chance of getting through the Test without
stirring it up again, because that would be the worst case scenario for everyone - I wouldn't want to let the team down.”
The Queenslander also appreciated the support he has received from different ranks recently.
“Everyone continues to be unbelievably supportive and wants me to get out on the park because everyone wants me to get fit,” he mentioned.
