The CEO reckons that Borussia Dortmund will lose some of the big name players at the end of the season but is determined to achieve success in the future.
Hans-Joachim Watzke admits that Borussia Dortmund will struggle to retain some of its big name players at the end of the current campaign. He insisted that the departure of Mario Gotze and Shinji Kagawa is inevitable in the years
to come but is confident of tackling the situation.
The chairman was talking in the wake of failed negotiations between sporting director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364. The Westfalenstadion outfit is eager to extend Kagawa’s contract which is to expire at the
end of next season.
The Japanese, though, has declined to negotiate which means that the youngster is considering a move abroad in the near future. Kagawa also received a few offers prior to the start of this season from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but the 22-year-old
decided to honour his current deal.
On the other hand, Watzke stressed that the club will deal with this current situation and find a solution to it. He opined that the Borussians have some great players in the youth ranks who can be promoted to the first team and
insisted that they have the quality to make an instant impact.
While talking to sports website, bild.com, Watzke further added: "We must decide together how to solve the situation. We must clearly recognise that this team is not going to play together for the next five years, as it is."
Kagawa has been a revelation for the reigning German champions since joining them from Cerezo Osaka in 2010. The attacking midfielder has so far managed to score 15 league goals from 37 appearances including seven this season.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 international is tied with the Borussians until 2013 and might renew his contract if the Borussians are able to retain their Bundesliga crown this season.
Dortmund are currently atop the league standings with 49 points, three clear of second placed, Borussia Monchengladbach. They will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 on Sunday, February 26, at the Signal Iduna Park.
