Die Borussen general manager blasted the German tactician for remarks he made about the defender and stressed that his recent success demonstrates the quality of the youngster.
Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke stated that he was not amused by Joachim Low’s comments made about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Republic-of-Ireland-c2987
in Dublin that left-back is not the BVB player’s best position.
Die Mannschaft head coach claimed that the young full-back struggled in the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 and the national team would try to find a different option. Low said that Schmelzer’s replacements are not prepared and in the meantime,
they will continue with the Dortmund star for about two to five months.
"Schmelzer did not have a good game. Many of the alternatives are not ready, we have to keep working with Schmelzer for the next two, three, four or five months,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Watzke negated these remarks and praised the star player. He maintained that the defender has given a lot to the two-time Bundesliga champions and said he has replicated his club form internationally. The CEO offered his unconditional
support to the footballer and stressed his accolades are enough proof of his quality.
“Marcel gets any support from us. Even though in view of his achievements, he really doesn’t need it,” he said.
There has been a rift between Low and the Borussians before. The national trainer was previously critical of central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 in the semi-finals of the European Championships 2012. However,
Watzke clarified that they have no problems with Die Mannschaft boss.
"I just know that our behaviour towards the national team has always been extremely exemplary. From our side there was never criticism, certainly not through the media," he finally concluded.
The BVB CEO stated that their attitude towards the national team setup has always been very good. He finally confirmed that Dortmund have never publicly criticised the Germany coach. Schmelzer first made an appearance for the national
side in 2010 and has earned 9 international caps.
