The Borussia Dortmund general manager has brushed aside rumours that his side will be signing Edin Dzeko from Manchester City this summer
There have been widespread rumours that the defending German champions will be going for Edin Dzeko in the summer considering that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 has declined a new deal from the club. There is speculation that Dortmund are
keeping tabs on Dzeko and are keen to sign him as a replacement for the Polish international.
However, Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied any such rumours and insists that the club will not change its transfer policy for any player and will continue to nurture young players from the club’s academy.
“Anyone who really believes that a player from Manchester City would be transferred to Borussia Dortmund hasn't understood the BVB business model. Our motto is to develop young players,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The chief admitted that Lewandowski could leave the club this summer if a good offer comes their way. He added that there is also a chance that the striker serves his contract at the Signal Iduna Park and leaves on a free transfer
in 2014.
“Either we get a good offer in a timely manner or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 plays until 2014 for us,” he continued.
Watzke is delighted with the team’s performance in the UEFA Champions League where they have progressed to the quarter-finals. He admitted that the club is in a great position financially and will not spend money without any reason.
“We want to be at the top and be successful but we will do this without having to spend the extra money we have gained,” he continued.
Dortmund downed Shakhtar Donetsk in the knock-out stages of the UEFA Champions League with a 5-2 aggregate scoreline. The side won the return leg 3-0 at home with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jakub-Blaszczykowski-c17616 finding the
