Die Borussen general manager claims that he and the Bayern chief have a huge admiration for one another, and suggest that Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen can fight for the Bundesliga in the upcoming season.
Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has conceded that he and Bayern Munich supremo Uli Hoeness share a healthy relationship among them. Der FCB were involved in a lot of much-covered spats with the German double winning
side the previous year, as the BVB beat Die Bayern to the league title for a second year running.
The two German giants are presently preparing for their match in the DFL-Supercup. The Black Yellows director revealed that their competitive nature and bust-ups during the campaign have not harmed his personal association with
the former Die Bayern player.
Watzke told that he spoke with his compatriot at length in Hamburg and rates his rival very highly. He further said that the 60-year-old has the same feeling towards him and that they share a good understanding.
"We recently talked a lot in Hamburg. I have a lot of respect for Uli. I think it is the same on his part. We have a very strong relationship," he revealed.
Hoeness was heavily criticised by Matthias Sammer when he questioned Mario Gomez’s credibility and stated that he was not a great player. The BVB supremo said that if he was in his friends place, then he would have voiced his opinion
differently.
"I would certainly have done it differently. But everyone must decide for themselves," he added.
The FC Hollywood outfit is thought to have been a long term admirer of Westfalenstadion forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255, but Watzke played down talks of an offer from the Allianz Arena side and added that the striker is contracted to
the German Champions until 2014.
"I have not been contacted by Bayern concerning http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222. He plays for us anyway. I am convinced that in addition to Bayern, Schalke and Leverkusen will also play a role. Gladbach have also improved enormously. We set realistic goals.
Thinking about elsewhere is not relevant for us," he concluded.
The director finally said that the title race is open for the next season and any top team can mount a challenge for the Bundesliga 2012-13.
