  1. tsonga

  2. Wawrinka on slow courts and it looks like he's been playing consistently

Tsonga on fast courts though has an inconsistent play

  3. Warwrikna

  4. Wawrinka looks better at the moment as he has a more patient game approach. he has the better backhand and all court game. Tsonga has the bigger serve, much better volleys and is more suited for the faster surfaces. Tsonga has a lingering knee injury and is undergoing surgery sooner or later while Wawrinka seems fitter. That is why we rate the Swiss man higher as fitness is key in these busy tennis times. Tsonga is a great character and we hope he does not go from one nijury to another like his compatriot Monfils.

  5. I'd have to say wawrinka as of now, but it really amazing how tsonga came out of nowhere and nearly won the aussie open. He has been quiet since then, but you never know he might just do it again.

  6. I don´t like neither of them but i think wawrinka is better.

  7. Wawrinka. He is much more consistent and has proved to be a top player by beating many top players. Tsonga has been out of action because of several injuries so we will see if he will prove that he is as great as his run in the Aussie Open.

  8. Wawrinka is more consistent, and has been playing at a Top 50 level for much longer than Tsonga.  Really, Tsonga's only had one good result in his career, the 2008 Australian Open.  That's why Wawrinka is now in the Top 10 and Tsonga has yet to reach that high in the rankings.  But in a head-to-head match up, you'd have to favor Tsonga.

  9. on hard surfaces - tsonga (2008 australian open finalist)

on clay courts - wawrinka (2008 master series rome finalist)

  10. I'd go with Tsonga on hard or faster surfaces and Wawrinka on clay. Wawrinka is steady where Tsonga is explosive. Tsonga won their only meeting on hard courts.

I think Wawrinka will continue to have the better career because of the consistency in his results.

  11. Great points and observations by all three above me. Infact the best answer would have all of their content in it. Wawrinka at #10 with Tsonga at #18 are much closer in ability than the rankings reflect. Tsonga is a crowd pleaser, very emotional, with a great serve and volleys. Best suited to hard , fast surfaces which has contributed to his injuries. Wawrinka on the other hand has benefited greatly from his association with Roger and is a better all court player, with a solid ground game, patience and a much better clay courter than Tsonga. Tsonga was a giant killer at the AO but silent since whereas Wawrinka has been knocking off the top players as of late.  I like both so I would say 50/50 but would have to give the edge to Stan the Man.

  12. At the Australian Open, no one could really touch Tsonga (until the finals)  But before and after that, nobody really knew who he was.

Wawrinka plays steady (breaking into the top ten for the first time) and hasn't been way down and way up. I've seen Tsonga play amazing... And then (haha) not so amazing at all.

Wawrinka isn't such a rollercoaster and is able to keep his (high) level pretty solid at all times.  That's what really counts.  Heck, if we could all be judged on our best days... I would be on top of the world.
