  1. waxanne

  2. Yes you do, yes you can, the wax is at a grocery store in the canning section.  Use an old electric iron, melt the wax on the base of the iron and drip it on to the base, in a "S" pattern.  Then iron the wax to a thin film, and scrape it down to a thin overall film. The iron should be hot enough to easily melt the wax but not smoking hot.  Do this outside or in a well ventilated space.  Sharpen your edges first and scrape the wax off of the edges when you are done.

When you get a better board in a couple of years, you may want a different type of wax just for snowboards.

  3. There are several different ways of Waxing Snowboards. The easiest way is to let someone else (like your local board shop) do it. But, if you prefer to wax your board yourself the following are steps to guide you on How to Wax your Snowboard. Although there are different kinds of wax for different purposes, a general Snowboarding Wax will do the job in most cases.  Applying the Wax

Hold the wax bar against the hot iron and let the wax drip on the Snowboard. Set the iron on a heat that will cause the wax to melt, not to start smoking.

    Spread out the Wax

Once you have dripped some wax on the board smooth it out with your iron. Apply a thin layer to the entire base of your Snowboard. Allow the wax to cool off and get into the base.

    Remove excess Wax and Smoothen

Use a Plexiglas or plastic scraper to remove the excess wax. Now polish your base with an abrasive pad to smoothen out the surface.

  4. if you are unsure on how to wax your board let someone who knows how to do it take care of it...like a local ski/board shop...boards are too expensive to mess up! lol

  5. First, you can get snowboard wax at your local ski/snowboard shop or you can buy it online.  Now for the tools. You will need an

iron(any clothes iron will do), wax(of coarse), base cleaner and clean rags,  scraper(metal or plastic), and scotchbrite pads.

    Heres the steps:

#1 place your board on a work bench.

#2 Preheat the waxing iron on low.

#3 Adjust the temperature to medium, test a small piece of wax to make sure it does not smoke or your iron is too hot.

#4 With the tip of the iron lightly touching the board, melt the wax against the iron so it runs in a thin stream onto the base. Move the iron so you leave a bead of wax that you can later iron onto the base. You want a thin layer of wax.

#5 Keep the iron flat, and move in small circles. Spread the wax bead out until the entire base is covered with a thin film.

#6 Longer periods of waxing while keeping the iron moving is best.

#7 Allow wax to cool for twenty to thirty minutes. Use a plastic scraper to remove extra wax – take off as much as you can so you only have a thin layer.

#8 Polish with a ScotchBrite buffing pad.
