Question:

Waxing a snowboard/skis?

I just invested in a waxing kit which includes an iron, wax, scraper, brush and I think thats it.

I watched a bunch of youtube tutorials on how to do it but I have one question that none of the videos included. I have someone at my local shop who suggested to scrape the old wax off before doing anything...yet none of the videos said this was necessary, is this something I should or shouldn't do?

  1. Yep gotta scrape before you wax, unless you're racing for split seconds the old wax on your skis makes no difference but debris the skis might have picked up should concern you.

Not included in your kit would be p-tex candles and a metal scraper, file and edger(either 88* or 90*), deburring stone and lastly instant universal flouro wax(either spray on or liquid rub on) for those lazy mornings when you just don't want to bother with maintenance. I also like to keep a smooth cork in my kit but the palm of your hand can do the job
