Question:

Way to prevent my eye being glued shut in the morning?

I have a case of pink eye/conjunctivitis (I've been to the doctor, he gave me some eyedrops) but until it clears up I wake up in the mornings with my eye somewhat glued shut, and it's pretty painful/uncomfortable to get it open. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening the night before?

  1. Since a sleep mask or the like would trap bacteria, which is Not a good thing, there's not much you can do in the way of protection.

However, buy a bottle of 'unisol 4' saline solution (which is in the eye care section of many stores) or even just a container of 'refresh tears' eyedrops. Leave it on your nightstand. when you wake up, poke a little bit into the corners of your eyes, continuing to drop in more moisture until you can fully open them.

  2. -You can lubricate your eye better at night before bed, by putting a warm wash cloth over it, using more eye drops, or putting a humidifer in your room (The moisture from the humidifier should keep your eye moist until morning.)

-Make sure to keep your heat and air conditioning at a minimum because it causes your eye to dry up.

-Cover your eyes better when you're sleeping.

    Good luck!

  3. It may sound weird, but bathe your eyes in cold, black tea when you go to bed, and when you wake up.
