Has anyone noticed lately that headlights are way too bright. Especially on SUV's, Pickup trucks and high end cars. They all have the regular headlight and now they have 2 additional lights below....It's just like they are driving with their high beams on !!! I think it's VERY dangerous!!

  1. Yes, the Xenon headlights are way too bright.  I'm also tired of these people riding around with their fog lights on.  If you can't see with two headlights, and need two more 'spotlights' blinding other drivers, then you don't need to be driving at night.  9 times out of 10 those stupid fog lights are out of adjustment anyway.  All three of our cars have them, but they're never used.  I don't need four lights to see at night, myself.

  2. It's a battle. Compete or get squashed!

  3. High end cars are almost all coming with xenon (High Intensity Discharge, HID) headlights now.  Those are very bright, white (or slightly blue), and focused.  They have to be adjusted to not blind oncoming traffic.  Sometimes they are poorly adjusted or do not have a leveling system built into the car.

Why is HID so desirable?  It uses less energy (35 Watts is similar or brighter than 100W halogen bulb) and the light is closer in color to sunlight (though poor choices can vary too far into blue).

  4. yeah i did notice that, it buggs the h**l out of me too.

  5. They are no worse than the lights on trains. I live in an area where the railroad runs along the roads and the trains nearly blind me on a regular basis. I drive a Subaru and people are always flashing their brights at me even though I have my dims on. I sit low to the ground compared to pick ups and SUV's. There is nothing I can do about the lights that come with the vehicle. The newer lights are really bright and do bother me but if the person driving has their dims on what more can they do?

  6. i have to agree with you..its like high beams and i cant see sometimes.you get those spots in your eyes and its bad too see.

  7. my bentley has the HID lights. but i agree they are too bright but look nice at the same time. i'm usually in the nice part of town so evryone's lights are super bright

  8. I agree and noticed this too.Auto parts stores sell headlamps 'not approved for on road use' and people install them.  The cops should write tickets for this.

Also, most people rudely driving with high beams on don't lower them if you flash your high beams at them.  I don't bother flashing high beams at people anymore, but put my high beams on and leave them there until the other drivers lower theirs.
