Wayamba bowled out for 199 in SL Inter-Provisional Tournament
The star-studded Wayamba team was bowled out for just 199 runs with 13 balls remaining in their innings, in the Sri Lanka Cricket Inter-Provisional Limited over Tournament. The match was played at Colombo.
The Uva team won the toss and decided to bowl first in overcast conditions. The match was reduced to 47 overs per side after the start was interrupted by rain.
The start to the innings was not good enough for Wayamba as Dilshan Munaweera got out early after scoring 19 quick runs. The first drop was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dinesh-c54134 Chandimal who scored a magnificent century against Basnahira in the previous match.
The wicketkeeper batsman wasn’t able to score too many runs in this match as he was out after scoring 13 runs. At the fall of the second wicket, Captain Mahela Jayawardena joined opener Dimuth Karunaratne at the crease.
Both batsmen took the team out of trouble with a 54-run partnership but Karunaratne was dismissed after he reached his fifty. He scored 52 runs before he was cleaned-up by Janaka Gunaratne. Jayawardena was the next man to be dismissed after he got 28 runs.
The middle-order batsmen were not able to take the team out of trouble and the batsmen kept on losing wickets. Several batsmen got starts but none was able to capitalise on them.
Shaminda Eranga was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets in the match. The other bowlers also bowled well and chipped in with wickets. Dilhara Fernando, Malinga Bandara and Gunaratne took two wickets each.
