Wayne Bennett welcomes All Stars trial rules - Rugby League

While talking to reporters on December 14, coach Wayne Bennett has expressed his support for the National Rugby League (NRL) All Stars game and shared that he would welcome the trial changes NRL has introduced.
The trial changes include differential penalty and the six again call, where differential penalty is awarded when a foul has been committed by a player and the referee offers a penalty to the opposing side. The kicker will drop kick the ball downfield towards
the opposition goal post. This differs from a penalty kick as this way a goal cannot be scored but the ball possession is shifted to the opposing side.
These changes have been introduced in order to improve the speed of rugby league games. On differential penalties, the referee will call out 'six-again', which will be a signal for the attacking side to start again on tackle from the scratch without holding
the game to kick or touch.
Bennett shared with his fans on NRL blog, the pros of the rules. While expressing his thoughts about the differential penalty and six again call rule, Bennett said that he sees a future of the rule in NRL. Also, he believes that he sees no reason why the
rule will not be well received in Australia.
Bennett also shared with fans the idea of selecting an exciting line up, in order to match the Indigenous All Stars backline, which he deems a very strong line up. While talking about the backline, Bennett said, "They are very talented and we all know how
good they are. It's a very strong backline, with Justin Hodges, Greg Inglis, Chris Sandow and Johnathan Thurston, they don't come much more talented than that. We have to come up with a team that has a few more risk-takers than others. I suppose a guy like
Feleti Mateo's style of game, he has a lot of skill, so I'd love to see a few of those players in the team.”
It will be interesting to see how the Australians will adjust to the new changes introduced.
