The 25-year old striker, who scored 34 goals for Manchester United last season, said that the manager had instructed the team to be in an attacking mode right the start.
“Our game plan was to attack them first half and to get a goal or two up. We managed to get one and we held on,” he said. “We were unfortunate to concede the goal.”
Now that United are into the quarter-final of the Champions’ League, there is a strong possibility that they may be in line to play one of the biggest clubs in the competition after the draws are made.
Rooney said that United is ready to play anyone in the next round, including Barcelona, and does not fear any of the teams left in the competition.
Meanwhile, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been receiving praises from all corners for unearthing a gem like Javier Hernandez. Ferguson said that the partnership between Hernandez and Rooney is really taking shape now, and in time can develop
into one of the most lethal combinations in European football.
“Where Wayne has been playing in the past couple of games he is a real threat. He has such power and speed and Hernandez is unbelievable with his movement,” he said. “The boy has goals in him.”
