Wayne Rooney on verge of spat with Alex Ferguson
Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney’s recent comments about him being fit but still not considered by manager Sir Alex Ferguson for games have hinted that the things at the theatre of dreams are not well.
Wayne Rooney who had a superb run last season scoring goals for fun has seen himself drop down to the bench and left out of travelling squad to Valencia. Alex Ferguson has been constantly saying that the reason of dropping the star striker is his injury
but Rooney doesn’t agree with him.
Of late, Rooney has lost his touch and sharpness which also contributed in England’s failure at the World Cup. Much was expected of Rooney but the star failed miserably so much so that he wasn’t able to score his World Cup goal. He has played in two World
Cups and hasn’t managed to score in either of the two, which is a shame for a player of his stature.
His life has been badly affected by the outbreak of news of his alleged relationship with another despite of having a wife. The man has been frustrated by the way his life has been played publicly and seems to be fed up of his life in England, which potentially
signals that his departure is on the cards.
Real Madrid has previously shown interest in Wayne and Jose Mourinho would love to have him in his team. Mourinho has been furious on Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema. The former Inter Milan boss said he doesn’t want strikers who score a goal after six
opportunities but a striker who just needs one chance to turn the game on his head.
The rift between Alex Ferguson and Manchester United players is not a new thing. The Scott has been fighting with his players to attempt his authority on the club that is the main reason he has been at the helm of affairs for more than two decades. Alex
Ferguson has instilled his own mentality among the players that no one is bigger than the club, and he has not sacrificed on his rules.
Just like Rooney several other players tried to challenge the authority of Ferguson and they were shown the door. The players were superstars not average players but for Alex they were causing problems in the dressing room and he off loaded them.
Netherlands towering defender Jaap Stam was shown the door by Sir Alex when Stam was at his peak. Similarly David Beckham was forced out of United because Fergie thought he was disturbing the atmosphere in the team. Manchester United manager was unhappy
with David over his hairstyle and even threw a boot at him which struck his face.
Diego Forlan who was recently awarded the Golden ball at the World Cup was also a Man United player and he too didn’t listen to his boss; as expected he had to find another club to ply his trade. Furthermore, Irish Roy Keane publicly criticized Darren Fletcher
as being naïve and an average player who doesn’t deserve to play for a club like United. Roy was the captain of the Red devils at that time but Ferguson just like previous occasions stepped in and expelled Keane.
It would interesting to see whether Wayne Rooney will be forced out of United especially when Rooney has become a talisman at Manchester United. Surely, Alex Ferguson cannot afford to lose any more star players as he have already sold Carlos Tevez to Manchester
City and Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
