Wayne Rooney refuses to rule out a Manchester City move
Wayne Rooney’s relationship with Manchester United is on an all-time low as the two parties have hit a snag regarding Rooney’s contract renewal.
Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly unwilling to meet the striker’s 200,000 pounds a week wage demand. With the club ridden in debts and the club owners refusing to provide such a princely wage budget, the striker now seems to be on his way to United's arch
rivals, Manchester City. The player is reportedly open to such a move and media reports claim that he has even told his close friends that he would welcome a transfer to Eastlands.
Rooney’s rocketing wage demand isn't the only stumbling block as the player’s relationship with his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson is also cold as frost. The two had a war of words recently regarding an injury to Rooney’s ankle. Ferguson had declared that Rooney
was suffering from an ankle injury only for the striker to come out in the press and refute his own manager. If history has told us anything about Ferguson, the player is now unlikely to stay with Red Devils for long. The manager earlier also had public feuds
with David Bechkam, Ruud Van Nisterlooy and Jaap Stam and all three were duly forced to move clubs.
Wayne Rooney was in stupendous form last season as he scored a personal best of 34 goals in just 44 appearences. The player was a one-man army for the Manchester giants at times. Indeed, it was Rooney’s breathtaking form that lead United’s title defence
for much of the season. However, an injury to him left United wanting in the striking department.
Wayne had a dismal World Cup campaign recently and his form wasn’t helped when allegations of an extramarital affair against him were made public. The player is currently in complete disarray and has featured sparingly of late. The media is hot on Wazza’s
trail and Ferguson is trying to shield the player from public pressure.
Manchester United had enforced a press conference in the wake of extensive media involvement. But, the manager is likely to reveal his final decision at the mandatory UEFA press conference ahead of the club’s Champions League fixture. Regardless of the final
decision, Alex Ferguson will have the final say regarding Rooney’s future as the club owners and president have given the legendary manager complete authority over the matter.
