Wayne Rooney has come out and stated that he is disappointed with his behaviour which led towards his sending off against Montenegro for the English national team in their final EURO 2012 qualification match. England started the
match in fantastic fashion and went to the half time break with a two goal lead courtesy of a brilliant display by Rooney along with his club mate Ashley Young. However this went from bad to worse for the three lions in the second half when Rooney was sent
off for a rash tackle.
The Englishman was shown a straight red card and since then UEFA have come out and stated that the Manchester United striker will miss England’s opening three matches of the European Championships which are scheduled to be held
next year in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 and Ukraine. Debate has been underway in England as to whether or not Rooney should be taken to the European Championships given that he is going to miss all of England’s group stage matches.
England failed to qualify for the last European Championships in 2008 when they failed to get the desired result against Croatia in their qualification campaign under the guidance of Steve MccLaren. The FA are planning to launch
a formal appeal against Rooney’s three match ban for the next year’s European Championships but they only have until 5 pm on Friday, 4th of November, 2011 to do so.
In his latest interview, Rooney said, "Obviously, it's devastating for me but it's something that's my own fault, so I can't really complain. It was stupid by me - I regretted it as soon as I did it. It's no excuse, but I still
feel the punishment is a bit harsh. I'm disappointed with it. All the details we have been waiting on have come through, so we'll be making a decision as to whether we will be appealing. Even if it's reduced by one game, it will be a bonus for me. I honestly
don't know why. It was just one of those moments which I live to regret now.”
The Englishman will hope to be a part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s plans for the next year’s championships although nothing can be said for certain about his eventual inclusion in the final squad for the European Championships.
