Ukraine and Sweden.
England were seen as borderline competitors at the start of the competition but Roy Hodgson’s tactics have proven to be the right ones for the Three Lions as they went unbeaten in their three group stage matches.
At first they drew against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 and Ukraine. Rooney made his comeback from a two match ban against Ukraine and scored the winning goal for the Three

Hodgson’s focus has been on playing towards England’s strengths that is soaking up the pressure and hitting on the counter attack. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager has also paid keen attention to detail when it comes to set pieces
as shown by Rooney’s goal against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
The Manchester United forward thinks that England are well on their way now towards making an impact and giving their fans what they have demanded for so long from the English national team. Rooney said, "I think we know our qualities
and what we're capable of. We've got together and worked really hard, we've done a lot of tactical play in training and we're difficult to beat.”
He added, "I don't think there is any team that would fancy playing us, we're difficult to break down and we've got the players who can score goals, so it's going well at the minute. We'll get a good rest now and hopefully we'll
be back fresh."
England will hope that they can gain a win against Italy in the quarterfinals as well as they have not reached the semi-finals of a major international tournament since they reached the semi-finals of the European Championships
in 1996.
