Wayne Rooney uncertain about his future at Manchester United
Manchester United out-of-form striker Wayne Rooney fears the worse of his condition and is uncertain about his future with the Red Devils.
The English star joined Manchester United back in 2004 and is one of the most important players in the squad. It was Rooney’s form which perhaps saved United from an embarrassing season, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. The
player managed to thrash 34 goals in all competitions last season and bore the weight of the entire club on his two shoulders. United finished second in the league last season, one point behind eventual Champions Chelsea.
However, the player has not scored a single goal for the club in open play since March and has already created doubts over his future at the club. Rooney has had a lot deal with recently, as the player was found cheating on his wife. That along with the
pressure from both club and country has drained the life out of the 24-year-old, who now fears the future at the club.
United have already played 10 fixtures in all competitions and Rooney has started only 5. The player came on as a second half substitute in United’s frustrating draw against West Bromwich yesterday and looked anything but sharp. While talking to the press,
the player stated that he doesn’t know whether he would start or not and seems doubtful about his position in the starting XI. Rooney added that his form has fallen owing to lacking match fitness and would have to play more games in order to achieve full match
sharpness. However, that cannot be possible after rows between the manager and Rooney. Ferguson has a habit of off-loading big name players who have stood up to him or have lived up their useful life at the club.
"I want to play in all the big games – but I don't know if I will get picked. Hopefully I will play. But I have missed a few games recently and if you don't play then you don't get that match fitness. At the beginning of the season I was playing and I thought
I was getting back to fitness. But it's a lot different when you're not playing,” claimed the 24-year-old striker.
The player’s form has depleted over time and has not scored for the club in open play for nearly 10 matches and has just managed two goals in all competitions. The player is surrounded by issues of his private life and with Dimitar Berbatov sharing the load
for goals; Ferguson would have no trouble off loading the last season’s player of the year.
"Dimitar Berbatov has been scoring goals and it would be nice to be playing alongside him again. Hopefully our partnership can explode this season and we can start sharing the goals between ourselves a bit more. I want to be scoring goals, but as long as
I am winning games then I am happy. I think anyone in the dressing room will tell you exactly the same thing about me,” claimed the troubled forward.
United would have to sign two to three new players and off load some in order to win back the coveted premier league trophy. With a form like this, United can’t simply even dream of winning the premier league or any other competition. There is trouble at
the Red Devils camp and it needs to solved in time before the title race gets out of hands.
