Wayne Rooney waits for first team call-up
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is yet to get a call-up from his club for the first team; the player still has to receive a call-up from his club manager for a possible inclusion in the starting XI.
There are some strange happenings currently taking place at Old Trafford as Wayne Rooney has recently contradicted the statement of his manager Sir Alex Ferguson; The manager stated that Rooney was out owing to ankle concern and
wasn’t part of the side which went to face Valencia (UEFA Champions league) and Sunderland (Premier league).
However, the player was fit and fully available for England’s 0-0 draw against Montenegro on Wednesday and seemed untroubled by any such issue. On the question of whether he had any issues with his ankle, Rooney denied any such
claims and stated he was fit since the start of the season. The contradiction with the manager never seems to be a good omen for any player and Sir Alex Ferguson has a history of selling off players who cross ways with him. Whether it was the world wide phenomena
of David Beckham, the goal scoring ability of Ruud Van Nistelrooy or the defensive class of Jaap Stam, Ferguson has not tolerated anyone’s attitude and sold off every player who has crossed him. Nonetheless, he remains one of, if not, the best managers of
his era and his saying that “no player is bigger than the club” has been the focal point of his achievements.
English national side Physio Gary Lewin has also confirmed no issues with Rooney’s fitness during the player’s time within the Three Lions camp. While talking to the press, Lewin stated that the national side is always in contact
with the clubs whose players participate in the matches. Lewin stated that Rooney’s time with the Three Lions was always injury free and never missed a training session in all 7 days.
"He had not played for Manchester United for two weeks before and what happened at United is between them and him. But when he arrived with us he was fit and available to play.”, claimed the physio.
"Manchester United knew with the two weeks he had off and the treatment they were giving him that by the time he came to us he would be ready to train. And they were quite open with us about that." Explained Lewin regarding the
situation.
Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs has also made a full recovery from a minor knee concern. United currently sit on the number three spot and are five points behind leader Chelsea. The side has suffered from their
inability to find away wins and to finish off opponents. United have managed to draw all four of their away fixtures in the Premier League and have managed 4 points out of a possible 12. To stay firm in their title bid, Manchester United need to win more fixtures
and avoid silly mistakes like the ones they did at Fulham and Everton a few weeks ago.
