Manchester United striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 would be the ideal player to take over the England captaincy.
England are currently without a captain, following the FA’s decision to sack http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 as England’s captain.
The decision made by the FA did not sit well with a number of people, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello who resigned as England’s manager due to him not agreeing with the FAs ruling.
Nonetheless, with the team currently lacking a captain, a lot of attention has been focused on just who should take over and lead the team into the Euro 2012.
Manchester United’s goal scoring machine, Wayne Rooney was being hailed as one of the favourites to take over the captains arm band for the national team, but the striker has gone on to wave away the offer.
Rooney feels that it would be amazing to be handed the captain’s armband, but he feels Steven Gerrard is better suited for the role.
When speaking about the situation, the forward used his Twitter account to state: “For everyone asking i would love to be england captain. But thats upto new manager to decide. Gerrard is perfect choice for me."
Rooney has captained England in the past, but it seems like he just isn’t looking forward to captaining the side on a regular basis.
Apart from Rooney, the likes of Steven Gerrard, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
In order for England to appoint a captain, they need to first find a manager to guide the team to the Euro 2012.
At the moment, Harry Redknapp is being considered as the ideal person to replace Capello as the national team’s manager.
However, should Redknapp come in and take over as England’s manager, he is going to be looking to hand over the captaincy to Scott Parker.
The only reason for this happening, is because the manager has worked with the midfielder at Tottenham and he is well aware of just what the midfielder is capable off.
Nonetheless, it is a wait to see just who becomes the next captain for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad.
