Wayne Rooney wants to win something with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 – Football News
Manchester United forward and England international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, has insisted that his international career with the Three Lions would be regarded to be rather pointless, if he fails to win anything with the
national team.
At the moment, the twenty seven year old forward is sitting just fourteen goals behind the record goal tally of Sir Bobby Charlton for the national side. Should he go on and score those fourteen goals over the
coming years, he would go down as England’s leading goal scorer.
However, Rooney has insisted that all these records would be rather pointless, if he can’t help the team actually win any trophy or silverware.
"Some people talk about records, but I'm not really too fussed"
"I've always felt that, to be successful, you have to win trophies.”
"I could end my career with England being record goal scorer and maybe even record caps-holder, but if you're not going to be successful, then it's pointless.”
"That's what I play for England for: to try and help England be successful. That's the aim. It's not to see how many caps or goals I can get - it's to see if I can get a winner's medal."
Rooney’s fine form for England has potentially kept him in line to become England’s captain and his determination to win big might just end up convincing his manager to let him take the step, in order to do just
that.
England is currently scheduled to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 in an upcoming game and Rooney seems to be a little concerned going into the game. The player feels that the team’s current form is not as good as it should have
been and insisted that some of the previous draws which the team picked up, should have been converted into wins, given the chances that they had in those games.
Nonetheless, Rooney is now going to have to take all his mental dedication with him, when he steps on to the pitch, since he is well aware of the fact that actions speak louder than words.
