scourer. Bettor.com also has compiled the most likely of destinations along with the reasons and also whether the move would be a success or failure?
Chelsea:
Chelsea has already registered their interest in soon to be ex-Manchester United star. Coach Carlo Anchelotti has praised Wayne Rooney and suggested that most of the big teams would be interested in him. With both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka over 30,
Rooney could certainly fill in their boots for a longer period of time.
The prospect of having Lampard, Drogba and Rooney in the same line-up would be appealing to any manager. After having won so much at Manchester United, moving now to a team with a similar winning mentality and having a manager who like Sir Alex Ferguson
has a wealth of experience at his disposal, could just be the right move for the Englishman.
Possibility: Likely
Verdict: Success
Barcelona:
The question here is can Barcelona afford Wayne Rooney? And do they actual need him? Rooney, with all his talents, might find it difficult to break into the strong Barcelona line-up. Barcelona prefers to play with one man upfront and two supporting attacking
wingers. The position upfront is currently safe in the hands of David Villa.
Having spent over 50m pounds on Villa and Javier Macherano, the question remains that does Barcelona have the resources to add another high profile signing, who would be more of a luxury than a necessity?
Possibility: Unlikely
Verdict: Failure
Manchester City:
United fans would be dreading at the possibility of yet another Manchester United Star moving across the City centre to Eastlands. Even though it seems highly unlikely that after 6 years at a club, where he has been one of the most decorated players, he
would betray the trust of the fans and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Unlike Barcelona, City has the riches to buy Rooney at whatever price Manchester United put on him. City can also afford to offer Rooney a contract which would be hard to match elsewhere.
A move to Manchester City could benefit both the player and the club as Rooney would get a chance to reunite with former team mate, Carlos Tevez and be a regular starter.
Bookmakers suggest that Manchester City are add on favorites to land the unsettle superstar, however, only time will tell whether Rooney has another shock up his sleeves.
Possibility: Likely
Verdict: Success
Inter Milan:
Many would consider the Italians as outsiders but Inter Milan and Wayne Rooney could well be the perfect combo. With Rafael Benitez suggesting that he wants reinforcements and also with the money available from the sale of Mario Balotelli to Manchester City
and compensation paid by Madrid for Jose Mourinho, Inter have the financial strength to compete against the likes of Real and City.
Rooney would be suited to the robust style of Italian league and would also have an ideal strike partner in Samuel Eto’o, who has been back to his best, this season.

Verdict: Success
Real Madrid:
Real Madrid have no shortage of star players and adding Wayne Rooney to it, even just for the sake of it, would not surprise anyone. Madrid would provide Rooney with the opportunity to play alongside some of the best players in the world, under one of the
most highly regarded coach and at one of the world’s most prestigious clubs.
A deal with Madrid could also benefit Manchester United as they could ask for a swap deal with either Karim Benzema or Lass Diarra, both of whom have been linked with United in the past.
Mourinho, however, expects Rooney to stay with Manchester United. "My thoughts are he will stay," said Mourinho
after his team’s 2-0 win over AC Milan.
"I believe he is going to stay. But if at the end of day, Man Utd decides that he is to leave, give me a call."
There is strong belief that Real Madrid could well be the next possible destination for Wayne Rooney after having seen stars like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo move to Santiago Bernebeu previously.
