Wayne Rooney’s un-deciphered saga
Sir Alex Ferguson the manager of Manchester United has had his share of media problems in last 2 decades at Old Trafford, Fergie may be in for another rough altercation with the press as they try to seek answers regarding his relationship with Wayne Rooney.
There has been immense speculation in recent weeks that Wayne Rooney may be on his way out of Old Trafford in January. However, the club had denied those claims, and said that no such deal is to be made.
But that does not stop media from speculating where Rooney may end up; the fact that Rooney has not yet signed a contract extension has fuelled the rumours even more.
So now starts the guessing game of English tabloids as to where would Rooney go once he leaves Manchester United. Spanish champions Barcelona were believed to be one club interested but in recent days they have been put out of the race. However, Real Madrid
have been one of the front runners for Rooney’s signature. Italian clubs are not exactly the ones that have bags full of money so they would not be in the hunt. Since German Bayern Munich spent some good amount of money in the summers, Louis van Gaal may also
not be interested in availing the services of Rooney. While looking in the English Premier League there are only 2 clubs that can actually afford Wayne Rooney. And not surprisingly the list is only as long as Chelsea and Manchester City, the only two clubs
that have enough funds to afford such a luxury like Wayne Rooney.
The rumours of Rooney being linked to Manchester City may send United fans into a frenzy, not only due to the fact that City are bitter rivals but also because Carlos Tevez made his way there and made a huge impact, and now has been handed the captaincy.
Manchester United are going through a bad phase, the former champions have managed to draw 5 games out of their 8 league matches this season. And the consistent rumours regarding Rooney having not helped either, but if the cash rich Manchester City gets
a sniff of chance that bringing Rooney to the Eastlands may be a possibility, rest assured Roberto Mancini would jump at the opportunity.
There are also reports that the financial advisors of Wayne Rooney are looking to milk Manchester United for more money if Wayne decides to leave the club. It is believed that they were not entirely happy with the new contract offered to Rooney and wanted
more incentives and increased weekly wage for the English striker.
But the issue of Rooney leaving the club is believed to be more than just the breakdown in relationship between Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson. It was reported that Wayne was also not happy with the recruitment policy of the manager, and was disappointed
by the lack of support from his boss when problems in his personal life were revealed by the tabloids.
Rooney apparently had said that he expected more support from his manager and his whole team at a time when he was facing one of the toughest times in his personal life.  The dip in Rooney’s performance on the pitch also coincided with the off field controversies
and now the whole issue seems to be the catalyst behind the dreaded exit for one of the most influential players at old Trafford.
The final episode of the whole saga may yet be a fair distance away, but the developments are sure to go on for a while.
