Not obvious ones like turning the lights off when you leave the room. But real things that everyday people can do.

  1. help save natural places, like mountains, grasslands, forests, jungles, or even just a local park.

  2. You can wash clothes in warm or cold water instead of hot water.

Recycle your paper/plastics/glass and start your own compost pile. Its great for your garden!

Buy local produce during summer fall months to cut down on shopping at Walmart and other grocers. This reduces time food is spent in transit which leads to less carbon emissions.

You can also visit  the Sierra Club website and sign up for their online newsletter called "The Green Life". You will receive daily emails with tons of practical green tips.

  3. don't litter

  4. recycle, recycle, recycle. newspapers, plastics, cardboard, etc.

  5. care2.com/greenliving/

this has all kinds of stuff like natural window cleaners, dog shampoo, etc etc

    lotsss of stuff

  6. Go public transportation. If not possible, avoid big American cars and SUVs.

  7. Stop using gas or electric  powered lawn mowers  avoid products in plastic containers, walk or ride a bicycle to where every you need to go

  8. dont use plastic bags when shopping

replace at least one light bulb in your house with energy efficient ones

  9. Find out what lifestyle activities and choices have the biggest impact on the environment.  Then shift towards making them "green".  There are many small things one can do, but I'd focus on the ones that make the biggest difference on our environment: transportation, waste management, and the home.

    Transporation...

       (1) use public transportation

       (2) get a hybrid

       (3) walk

    At Home...

       (1) use alternative energy sources (ie solar power)

       (2) get CFL light bulbs

       (3) use appliances with the Energy Star label

       (4) install low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators

       (5) keep both a compost bin and a recycle bin

       (6) garden with native plants

    Waste Minimization...

       (1) buy recycled products

       (2) don't waste water or electricity

       (3) recycle your garbage whenever possible

  10. turnning off the lights is a real thing everyone can do. But yeah, just type "ways to be environmental" in google and it will come up with thousands of ways.

    Here are some examples.

-Remove your phone or any other kind of charger from the wall when it's not charging.

    -Buy locally grown food.

-Buy clothes made in Canada (no carbon emission from transporting from foreign countries.) That means Hollister, Abercrombie, Old Navy, and pretty much every big brand name out there is off limits.

-Buy clothes made with organic cotton or hemp. Hemp is durable, and very soft when washed a few times.

-Donate a portion of your paycheck to WWF

-Walk, take public transportation, bike, carpool, anything

-Buy a green plane ticket. Of course, there is no form of environmentally friendly airplane fuel, but for about $50 more, they'll give that money to a green fund.

-Buy dimming lights, you'll save a lot more energy

-Turn off the backlight timer on your iPod. Less energy wasted on the iPod, less charging

-Send messages from your cell. The computer uses way too much energy

-Turn down the amount of light from your monitor

    -Recycle

-Hook up with Terracycle, they'll pay for your 591 mL pop bottles, and fill them with worm p**p and sell it at Home Depot (I forget, it's some retailer like that) as a lawn fertilizer, bug killer, flower grower, and much more great stuff for garden-y things, and it actually works! Something like 2 billion pop bottles are bought every day, and only 2% are recycled

-DO NOT THROW YOUR BATTERIES AWAY, bring them to a Haz Mat Depot

-CFLs, yo. And if you don't like the harsher blue lighting, buy the kind with the yellow-ish cover. They look just like incandescents!

-Grow and make your own jam, salsa, etc.

-buy a low pressure showerhead and save water

-buy things from stores that give proceeds to environmental foundations

-if you're in some sort of school, start a good recycling program, or vermicomposting (giving all the compost to worms that don't require too much care) and clean up your school's act.

-Clean up the litter around town

These are all things I learned in my environmental class.

    PS google Terracycle

  11. I have hundreds of ways. I list them here:

    http://sustainablesundays.blogspot.com

    A few:

Stopping buy new things and instead shop vintage, antique or thrift stores, join a Freecycle or shop Craigslist.

Find ways to drive less - carpool, walk or bike, use city transit once a month, organize errand shopping, work from home. When you do drive, use cruise control and never go above 60 mph.

If you don't have a low flow toilet, buy a brick or two for 30 cents each to put in your tank.

Throw a cloth napkin (or a few of them) in your vehicle or purse so you don't have to rely on paper napkins.

    For women: Google Diva Cup.

For men, Google straight edge razor and ditch the disposable razors.
