  1. Buy locally produced food not organic because local does not have to be shipped long distances.  It can be bought at many grocery stores including Cub

Bike, ride public transportation, walk and carpool whenever possible

use less energy in your house by unplugging things, turning off lights and radios and etc.

  2. 1.  Avoid buying "organic" food.  Organic farms use more land to produce food than modern farming methods and more of the food is wasted due to their shorter shelf life.

    2.  Use a gas stove instead of electric.  Electricity is the most wasteful means of producing heat because the power plants only deliver 30% of their energy in the form of electricity.

    3.  Buy clothing made from synthetic fibres.  Farms that grow fibre crops (cotton, linen, hemp) are devastating to the environment.

    4.  Buy a car with a CVT transmission.  The CVT is the most efficient powertrain on the market, usually performing better than hybrids.

    5.  Whenever possible, avoid fuels that contain more than 10% ethanol.  Fuel with ethanol at levels below 10% burns cleaner than pure gasoline, while above that level the damage to the environment due to ethanol production outweighs the benefits of using it.

  3. Hi, there are many things you can do that won't be costly and while they may seem like small steps they are very beneficial. For products to use to clean your home that are better for the environment go to this link.

Method products and Seventh Generation are good ones and are reasonably priced. Always turn off any electrical things that aren't being used, unplugging them too is even better. Or turn off the switch to strip plugs. Use reusable canvas (or other durable material) bags for shopping.

Whenever possible walk, car pool, use a bike or invest in a scooter and use public transportation.

Don't waste water, treat it as though it's a precious commodity, because it is.

There is a wealth of information about living greener all over the internet, msn.com or just about any search engine will lead you to finding what you need to know.
