The best way you could help around the house is be courteous and grateful.  Always let your family know that you appreciate the roof over your head, the food in your stomach and the clothes on your back.  It is hard raising children and when times get difficult, the best feeling would be a simple hug from a loving child.

As for chores, I would just do what your gut and eyes tell you.  If you are in the bathroom and notice the toilet looks a little dirty, splash some toilet cleaner and grab the brush and scrub it for two seconds.  Same in the kitchen.  If the sink looks gross, grab some AJAX and just wash it down.  If the floors need cleaning, vaccuum them.  When dinner is over, thank who cooked it and offer to clean up.  Or, if your mom or dad looks real tired at night, offer to make dinner for them.

It's the small things that you do without being told that will brighten any parents day.

mow the lawn once a week (son does that every Tuesday)

pull out weeds in flower bed

take trash out for pickup every week

sort out recycles and place them in bin for pickup time

clean room

shred unwanted paper in office

plan a meal for dinner

wipe windows inside house for spring cleaning!
