  1. Hit him over the head with a rubber hammer?.. no im joking

Try a warm bath, milky drink etc?

  2. how much time does he spend outside? make sure he's getting a couple hours of vigorous outdoor play per day.

what does he do in the time before bed? watching tv late can cause insomnia.  make the last half hour or hour of the day for quiet activities like reading and possibly a warm bath or shower.

you can try warm milk before bed.  eating right before bed can also contribute to insomnia.  so can some medications, so check if that might be the problem.

  3. give him a sedant!  lol

  4. Ok here goes

A warm bath, stay with him while he's in the bath and play. Be very tactile, lift him out of the bath and wrap him in a warm towel just off the radiator. Gently rub him dry in large circular motions.

Get him to put pajama shorts on and lie him on his bed. Get some lavender oil or moisturiser and take the time to massage him from his toes up to his head. The massage comforts him and relaxes the body while the lavender scent relaxes the mind and allow his whole person to be calm. Put his pajama top on him and tuck him in tightly. Then read him a story until he falls asleep.

Worked like a charm with my son he now sleeps from 8 til 7.30.

    Good Luck

and remember there's no rush just take your time.

  5. My friend had a hyperactive boy. The doctor advised them to stop ALL food containing 'E' numbers - particularly colours. That worked perfectly.

  6. First of all you must ever allow him to see that you've snapped under the stress of getting him to sleep otherwise to him that means he's won and that will encourage him to stay awake longer.

I would reccomend this method, before you put him to bed, make do something that will allow him to burn almost all of his energy and then immediatley send him upto bed, obviously due to his Hyperactvity he will get out of bed so what you must do is send him up time after time untill he gets the picture that he wont be coming out of his bed, and this should  now be a little bit easier due to his energy levels will be down untill the next morning.

  7. i would tell him the more he plays up the earlier he'll go to bed the next night etc keep him off sweets late in the day hope this helps

  8. I have a kiddo that will not go to sleep until well after midnight without melatonin. It's a hormone your body naturally produces at night for sleep.  I give her about a miligram each night around 7 and by 8 she's ready for sleep.

Before the melatonin I tried several different things in relation to her diet and exercise.  I continue making sure she gets enough physical activity during the day and limit her sugar intake, but the melatonin is by far the biggest help.

I've also made a rule that she doesn't have to go to sleep, but has to stay in bed.  I've pulled nearly everything out of her room so there are no distractions.  She has to be in bed at 8, but can get up as early (after 5am) as she likes.  This way I know she has to opportunity to get as much as 11 hours if she needs it.

  9. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble putting your nine year old boy to bed. Explain to him that he must have at list eight hours of sleep each night to be healthy. Give him a treat the next day if he sleep early. something he might want to eat or drink. Better still make him drink a cup of warm milk, that might help. Good luck.

  10. Melatonin, an inexpensive over the counter supplement, has been shown to help children with ADHD.  Here's a link with more information.

  11. Firstly is your son in a routine... ie set time for homework, bath, tea?

Also you dont have to give him omega tablets  he does need omega 3,6 and 9 but it is in many foods in the supermarket ie there a new kingsmill loaf, flora butter and fish.

Take any additives and colours out of his diet aswell as fizzy drinks.

Also sound like your child needs to learn who the boss is take back your leadership.

  12. What is his diet like? If he is mostly eating junk food and sugar then that might be part of the problem. Give him lost of fresh fruit and veggies, lean protein, whole grains, low fat dairy, and water. Also if he is playing video games, get rid of it now. All that does is give him what I call "beehive brain" makes it hard for him to calm down when his thoughts are all over the place. Also make sure he is playing enough outside. Kids need fresh air. Give him a warm bath, read a book and get a routine started so he starts to wind down for the day.

  13. try looking into additives in his food, and give him natural stuff instead of processed, honestly it works, no fizzy pop too. good luck x*x
