  1. Dramamine will help you from getting sick and put you to sleep for a couple hours.

  2. Don't eat a few hours before the flight to keep your stomach empty. Bring a really good book to keep yourself distracted.

If it's a major problem, you can talk to your doc about giving you a couple of doses of an anti anxiety to take during the flight.

  3. Learn some relaxation techniques before you go - sit back, close your eyes, and breath slowly and rhythmically.  Repeat these two words as you relax further into your body.

My dentist says that I'm his only patient who can have a root filling done without any anaesthetic!

As suggested - ginger is good for nausea or you can try an over-the-counter remedy from the chemist.

If turbulence is expected you will be requested to make sure your seat belt is fastened (saves them having to pick you up off the floor!), and turn the air vent full on into your face; it really helps.

Or just think about what a boring business the whole thing is and you wish you'd gone by boat!

  4. Ginger has long been used to settle the stomach, and it has proven useful in preventing strong reactions to turbulence in flight. Chewing pieces of crystallised ginger during flight is the recommended use. The chewing action releases saliva, and the sugar not only helps modify the heat of the herb, but also makes it a pleasant occupation.
