  1. I find what works for me is try and get as much sleep as possible on the plane. Try to stay with your own "clock". Say if the plane leaves at 7pm - watch movies, read until your normal bedtime.

On arrival, if you can go to your hotel and take a shower or atleast wash up. Have coffee or tea. The 1st full day you are there, try and stay awake and hopefully get to bed early that night -8pm ( depending on schedule) the next morning you should feel pretty good, even though the 1st day you may feel groggy.

  2. Travel by boat...

  3. I travel often from the east coast to Asia. Hence, I experience jet lag a lot. No matter how often you travel, your body doesnt get used to it.

It all depends on your living patterns. Take little one hour naps on the plans. When you reach your new destination, dont go to sleep. Try to stay awake as long as you can. When it is night there, that is when you sleep.

If that doesnt work with you, you can do another thing. Depending on how great of a difference in hours between your departure country and arrival country, cut down the number of hours and sleep accordingly. For example, in  your case, taking a flight from NYC to Germany. There is a 5 hour difference. When it is 5 pm here, it is 10 pm there ( i dont know about the time zones..so I could be wrong on that..but you get my drift). If you are flying towrds Germany, try to sleep at 7 pm NYC time . In that way, your biological clock will be between NYC and German time, and hence reduce the jetlag.

    Have a good journey! :)

  4. There might be other way, but when you get to your hotel room, just don't sleep, move on to another activity. It's not really a solution, but this way, you get to see everything you want. Going back to America? is a lot easier and your not as Jet lagged.

  5. Here's the best way: Don't ever let it occur.  Wanna know how? During the flight there, you just stand up and face the back of the plane. start running in place.  see, this way, as the plane is going ahead, you're going backwards, so it evens out. No jet lag. Sweet.

  6. I bring string to make bracelets, A TON OF CANDY! and a good book. the time will fly by! The candy is the best part...make sure it ha sugar to keep you awake! You're gonna love Europe!

  7. Sounds like you are flying at night.  That's good.  Try to get as much sleep as you can on the flight (trans-Atlantic flights will dim the lights and people tend to keep quiet).  Bring along an ipod if you want to block out outside noises.  Once you get there you just have to tough out the first day - do not nap or go to bed too early.  Stay active and eat regular meals (nothing too heavy).  Drink plenty of water too.  Once you've made it to 10pm then get a good night's sleep and by morning you should be okay.  You'll still feel it a bit and eating will feel weird a bit (weird times to eat etc) but stick to a schedule and it should pass in time.

The worst thing you can do is try to nap the first day - your sleep patterns will be even worse.

There are herbal "cures" but try not to load up on caffeine or anything as it will only cause you to crash later.  And stay away from alcohol for the first few days (assuming you're old enough to drink on day 4).

    Good luck.

  8. Bring a watch, first of all.

    1. When you arrive on the plane, set your watch to the time that it is in London.

    2. If you go to bed at 8pm normally then at 7pm on the plane fall asleep.  You will wake up in the morning on the plane when it is landing.

    3.  That night, fall asleep at 8pm.  You should wake up at 7am the next morning.

You fell asleep at 7pm on the plane so that you sleep from 7pm to 6am, 8pm to 7am, 9pm to 8pm.  You get off at 6am which means you fall asleep at 7pm, or if its after that when you get on, asap.

  9. You need to move around from time to time when you're on board. For example, go to the washroom and flex your body for a couple of minutes and listen to soft music so it relaxes your brains. The flight aboard always have books or pamphlets about how to travel without getting tired. When you've reached, you should keep yourself awake till it's bedtime according to wherever your destination is and sleep well for at least 10hrs. That way your body will get fresh the next day. But nobody gets away with jet lag right away, believe me. Unless you're always flying.

  10. Sleep during the trip. Pop a sleeping pill, and enjoy the snooze.

You'll feel a little groggy, like you normally do when you wake up, but your body will be reistant to jet lag. Even if it's night when you wake up, you'll usually fall asleep anyways. Just nature.

  11. Sleep during the night like you normally would. If it is earlier than normal, just go to sleep a bit earlier. If it is later than normal hang in there and go to sleep later. This will ensure that you wake up at the normal time in your new time zone, and won't suffer from any jet lag. This is what I do every time, and never have an issue with it.

  12. change the time on ur clocks to whatever suits u

  13. theres pills for it i think
